My research interests are in Environmental and Industrial Bioprocess Technology. I explore opportunities of transforming biomass, solid or liquid wastes into more valuable products, such as bioethanol, biogas, biopestiicides, and enzymes.

From Residues to Energy and Products

Indonesia is blessed with various biomasses in the form of raw mateials or residuals from agricuilture and industrial activities. We are examining and developing different kinds of pre treatment technologies to obtain sugars from lignocellulosic materials. Then, chemi-cal and enzymatic hydrolysis, fermentation and product purification techniques are of my interest to pursue valuable products. Bioethanol, biobutanol, and cellulase are among those on the list. We also scrutinize technologies to obtain pesticides and biooils from Indonesian plantation.

Cleaning the Dirts

Wastewater and contaminated groundwa-ter treatment technologies are welcome in our lab.

Clean Ones

Beside “dirty” lab experiments, my students, my research partners and I are happy in utilizing Simulation software (SuperPro Desig-ner) and Response Surface Methodology to optimize the biological and chemical engineering processes.
