
Department of Chemical Engineering, Universitas Indonesia was first established under the name of the Department of Gas Engineering Universitas Indonesia in 1981. There are two study programs that were established almost simultaneously in 1981. Based on the statute of UI-BHMN, the term of the study program was changed to department in 2003, and in 2006 the Department of Gas and Petrochemical Engineering was changed to the Department of Chemical Engineering.
Department of Chemical Engineering, Universitas Indonesia, has now become one of the leading chemical engineering departments in Indonesia, with recognition by the ASEAN University Network (AUN) for the Undergraduate Programs in Chemical Engineering and the Undergraduate Programs in Bioprocess Engineering, accredited as Excellent by the Japan Accreditation for Engineering Education (JABEE) and the Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE) for the Undergraduate Programs in Chemical Engineering and the Undergraduate Programs in Bioprocess Engineering.
Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Indonesia (DTK FTUI) has pioneered and organized the Masters Program (S2) in Chemical Engineering since 2002, which consists of the Regular Masters Program in Chemical Engineering and the Masters Program in Chemical Engineering with Concentrations in Gas Management, Waste Management Technology, Energy and Sustainable Processes and Process Safety Management as well as the Masters Program in Chemical Engineering Research Path.
